The Carriage House Players and Kenan Center present Candid Conversations, a night of one-act plays. Two one-act plays will be performed, “Dayroom,” written by Mark E. Humphrey and “In the Beginning,” written by Rebecca Ritchie. Both plays are directed by Betsy Bittar.
Candid Conversations are when people open up to each other about high stake emotional topics. In this production of plays, both written by local playwrights, women share compelling stories.
“Dayroom,” by Humphrey is about two wives who have been incarcerated for the deaths of their husbands. The two inmates come from different backgrounds but find friendship over a crossword puzzle. The cast includes 2018 Artie Best Actress winner Verneice Turner as Emma, and Anna Krempholtz as Sally,
“In the Beginning,” is a remount from The New Phoenix Theatre’s critically acclaimed Way Back When, featuring Pamela Rose Magnus, 2018 Best Supporting Actress in a Musical, as Lilith, Kathleen Rooney as Eve and Jessica Leigh Tokarski as Rachel. This play is about two circumstantially adversarial women who candidly share their histories and their hearts.
