Tribute to Dexter Gordon

Dexter Gordon & The Legacy of Hard Bop, our first concert in the Kenan Center 50th Anniversary Jazz Series, pays tribute to legendary sax great, Dexter Gordon, performed by Kelly Bucheger’s quintet, What Would Mingus Do? The concert takes place just days before what would have been Gordon’s 94th birthday, in the intimate, club-like atmosphere of the Taylor Theater. The group will perform two 45-minute sets, with the first half showcasing tunes from the sax great’s songbook and the second half, original compositions in the hard bop style associated with Gordon. The group features Kelly Bucheger on saxophone, Greg Millar on guitar, Alec Dube on vibes, Ed Croft on bass and Devin Kelly on drums. Presented by Carriage House Players and Kenan Center.
