Starring "The Voice" performers Joshua Vacanti of Lockport and Cami Clune of Buffalo, the Kenan Center's production of "The Last 5 Years" takes place in the beautiful Taylor Theatre.
The Last Five Years is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown. It premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was produced Off-Broadway in March 2002. Since then, it has had numerous productions in the United States and internationally.
The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein (Joshua Vacanti), a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt (Cami Clune), a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple first met), and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.
The Kenan Center's production of "The Last 5 Years" takes place in the intimate 153-seat Taylor Theatre (433 Locust St. Lockport, NY).
